Graphic Designer - Part-Time

The Australian Jockey Club's ambition is to present one of the world's premier thoroughbred racing experiences. It does this by striving to achieve top quality racing and presentation of Carnivals, providing the finest customer service to members, owners, sponsors and the general public, and by recently implementing a plan to upgrade facilities that will showcase the Club as a world class provider of racing, entertainment and events.

Currently the need has come for someone to assist us internally in designing and developing numerous internal advertising materials like brochures, flyers, advertising campaigns (support), ad hoc projects to service internal marketing department with external usage.

The successful candidate will have extensive experience and creative flare in the following:

  • Min 2-3 years relevant experience with extensive work in corporate Graphic Design,  and multimedia/web technologies
  • Degree Qualified (preferred but not essential) in Art, Design, Advertising or related field
  • Background working from concept creation, to design and through to delivery
  • Strong knowledge of print graphic design, digital design and web design
  • Experience and understanding of working on solutions for a corporate brand
  • Knowledge of design, typography and printing processes and techniques
  • Experience with Adobe CS and Acrobat
  • Strong client facing and communication skills
  • Excellent portfolio of work
  • Microsoft office
  • Photoshop
  • Illustrator
  • Dreamweaver
  • Indesign
  • Flash
  • CSS
  • HTML
  • Understanding of Content Management Systems

The position itself is contracted for 3 days a week, but will vary over carnival periods based on workloads of the marketing department and suppliers.  The candidate will also liaise with our outsourcing IT services provider to achieve the most desired results.

Successful candidates must have a good portfolio of previous works to demonstrate their creativeness and abilities to meet our needs. Good attention to detail and creativity is the key to this role, as we want to have a leading edge website in the industry.
